Booking Info

Demo/Audition:

Beatnix features live music performed by a wide variety of local artists. In order to be considered for a Showcase you need to audition (see Open Mic Night) or send/drop off an audio demo. Also include the dates you are available to play. If you don't have a website or prefer sending us your kit, address it to:

Beatnix Burger Barn
1700 Colcord Ave.
Waco, TX 76707

Beatnix is a all-ages venue with a cozy, homespun atmosphere. Acoustic and semi-acoustic acts generally work the best, but we're flexible on the format of your group. We're open minded about music genres and will entertain any suggestion.

Additional questions? email: info@beatnixcoffee.com

Performers Info:

We encourage all performers to arrive an hour before their show (when possible) to verify that you're on-site and ready to perform. We provide an 500 watt sound system including microphone & mic stand. Musicians from around the area tell us they love playing Beatnix because of the friendly atmosphere and great sound! Contact us in advance if you have any special requirements or questions about the house sound system.

Because we are a restaurant and pay our rent by selling food and coffee drinks, we ask that no outside food be brought in without our permission. We are BYOB, but will check ID’s and ask anyone drinking who is under age to leave.

Compensation:

Beatnix does not pay performers. We do allow a cover charge to be negotiated at the time of booking, but we do not provide a guarantee. If you are an out-of-town band you can request that Beatnix suggest a local band to appear with you, but negotiating compensation with the band is up to you. Shows that feature more than one band work the best in our location.

If cover is collected, we do ask for $1 of each cover collected and will help by providing wrist bands. This helps us to pay for extra expenses incurred by hosting large shows, such as additional staff.

Beatnix does provide free bottled water to performers on the night of their appearance. You are welcome to sell your wares (CD's, t-shirts, etc.) and promote your upcoming gigs. You are welcome to place a tip jar on the stage. If you are interested in leaving some of your own CD's for sale on in the shop, bring a few with you and talk to Benn.

Open Mic:

If you don't have recorded material for review you can audition at a Friday Open Mic! (Check our Facebook to make sure we are having one that Friday before you come.) The sign-up list is available on Friday at 8:30pm, featuring 12 performance spots (15 min. each). Those spots go fast, so we suggest you arrive early to ensure your place on the list! Open mic starts at 9:00.

Beatnix Burger Barn strives to provide the best all-ages environment for the promotion and performance of live music. Of course we have the right to stop shows if we see fit, but we understand the nature of live music and try not to intervene.

We understand that you value your musical instruments and equipment, but ask that you take care when setting up and tearing down to not accidentally take any of ours. (We want to continue being able to offer a house sound system.)

Audio levels are set by the host . If you have special audio requirements please notify the host in advance.

Promotion:

We want your show to be well-attended, but are not responsible for promotion. We do help by mentioning shows on Facebook and Twitter, and if booked far enough in advance we will add it to The City Review music calendar (local alternative newspaper that we print monthly.) If you make flyers or graphics to promote, please send those so that we may display them in house.

Thank you for your interest in music at Beatnix Burger Barn!
