Yes, I know I've been slacking BIG TIME. I think I have
finally recovered from the holidays. I've updated the website and we've
got some great acts coming up! We have also scheduled some of your Beatnix
Favorites, such as Kat Dixon, Bubba Waco, and Curtis Timmons to permanent
dates, so mark that repeating event you love in your calendar!
May
7: Casey Graham
I'm a folksinger
from Fort Worth, and a student at Baylor. What I play would
best be described, I guess, as modern folk music. Music, to
me, should be about more than entertainment. It should be about
enlightening people with regards to social and political issues,
and showing people that one can truly find meaning in a musical
culture. Now, I think, is as good of a time as any to begin
to bring the general public back to the kind of social and political
activism that's been far too forgotten. Music is one way to
do that.
May 9 : Undeserved
I'm
a pretty crazy guy so I'm told, but most people seem to be
able to look past that. I love to play guitar and sing. I
currently play acoustic guitar for two churches which include
Christian Life Church here in Waco, and Timbercrest Baptist
in Bellmead. I love to get out and do things whether it be
play some basketball, go to the movies, or grab some ice cream.
I'm usually up for most anything. Anything musically related
is usually a pretty good way to reach me. I really just try
and take each moment as it comes.
May 14: Kat Dixon
Kat Dixon is a
singer-songwriter and a multi-instrumentalist from Moody. Dixon's
vocal stylings run the gamut from Texas swing to sultry siren.
Don't miss your chance to see Kat before she becomes a million-selling
artist!!!!
May 23: The
Kindred
May 28: Bubba
Waco
Combining the
blues of the Deep Delta and the avant garde of The Lower East
Side
of New York, Bubba Waco will mesmerize you with his unique
brand of slide guitar
blues. You will be entertained.
May 30: Greg
Wright
A newcomer to the
Beatnix scene, Greg Wright combines great guitar playing and
soulful vocals to produce a sound not heard since the singer/songwriter
explosion
of the late sixties/early seventies.

Beatnix is a "family friendly" all-ages venue
with a cozy, homespun atmosphere. Acoustic and semi-acoustic acts generally
work the best, but we're flexible on the format of your group. We're open
minded about music genres and will entertain any suggestion, excessively
loud and purposefully obnoxious music is not suitable for Beatnix and
is better left to the bar & nightclub scene.
Performers Info:
We encourage all performers to arrive by 8:00 (when possible) to verify
that you're on-site and ready to perform. We provide an 1,000 watt sound
system including microphones & mic stands. Musicians from around the
area tell us they love playing Beatnix because of the friendly atmosphere
and great sound! Contact us in advance if you have any special requirements
or questions about the house sound system.
Compensation:
Beatnix does not pay performers nor do we allow a cover charge. Music
at Beatnix is always free and open to the public. This provides our community
with a great venue for original music, while songwriters have the opportunity
to perform for an appreciative audience in a friendly environment.
Beatnix does provide free drinks to performers on the
night of their appearance. You are welcome to sell your wares (CD's, t-shirts,
etc.) and promote your upcoming gigs. You are welcome to place a tip jar
on the stage. Audience gratuities may be solicited from stage or freely
offered, however, passing the hat or charging a cover is not allowed.
If you are interested in leaving some of your own CD's for sale on in
the shop, bring a few with you and talk to Todd or Penney. You set the
price and keep all the profits from sales of your CD; Beatnix charges
$1.00 above your price to cover sales expenses.

Saturday Open Mic! The sign-up list is available on Saturday at 7:30pm,

Beatnix Coffeehouse strives to provide the best all-ages
environment for the promotion and performance of live music at no cost
to the public. As such we ask that you abide by these few rules: No profanity
or lyrical content unsuitable for a family audience; inappropriate performances
will be cut short without warning; you have 15 MINUTES so plan accordingly
(excessive set-up & tear-down may cut short your performance time).
Audio levels are set by the host . If you have special
audio requirements please notify the host in advance. We provide mics
for unwired acoustic instruments. The host will guide you as to mix and
volume; please help us make you sound great!
Thank you for your interest in music at Beatnix Coffeehouse!
